Project Story

Viking Vire is a construction vessel designed for offshore wind, subsea and IMR operations. Under construction at Sefine Shipyard, the vessel builds on a modern CSV concept, combining extensive project flexibility, a lower emissions profile and strong operational capabilities.

The design addresses a market where a single vessel must be able to undertake a wide range of assignments. Extensive deck space, high cargo capacity, an offshore crane, ROV systems and accommodation for a large number of personnel provide a versatile operational platform.

The energy concept combines battery hybrid operation with dual-fuel methanol/diesel technology, positioning Viking Vire to meet future requirements for offshore projects. At the same time, the systems must deliver reliable power for dynamic positioning (DP), crane operations, ROVs and project equipment.

For NSK Ship Design, the key is to ensure that all these functions work together as an integrated whole. The hull, machinery, deck layout, crane, ROV areas and accommodation are configured to provide both flexibility and clearly defined operational capabilities.

Viking Vire demonstrates how the next generation of construction vessels can be developed for a market with increasingly demanding requirements for emissions, efficiency and multipurpose operations.
