Project Story
Raften is a battery-hybrid service vessel developed for Nordlaks and built at Tersan Havyard. The vessel was delivered in 2025 as part of a new generation of service vessels for aquaculture, with functions designed to support operations, maintenance and work around modern fish farming facilities.
The design is built around a wide and stable working deck. Service vessels of this size need to handle a wide range of tasks, from towing and anchor handling to ROV operations, lifting, transportation and practical work at aquaculture sites.
Battery-hybrid propulsion gives the vessel a modern energy profile and enables more efficient use of power across different operating phases. For a service vessel, this means that machinery, batteries, thrusters and hotel loads need to work together throughout short and varied operational cycles.
Raften is designed for the practical demands of everyday aquaculture operations. Visibility from the wheelhouse, safe access, clear working lines and robust deck equipment are just as important as the main dimensions, as the vessel is a tool used by the crew every day.
Raften demonstrates how service vessel design can combine capacity, flexibility and energy efficiency in a compact and clearly defined working vessel.
